VIDEO HOW TO PAGE

BriteLyt Video of Stove Operating Instruction

1.  Take stove out of box... Stove comes pre-assembled.

2. STOVE ASSEMBLY: SEE THIS PAGE FOR STOVE ASSEMBLY, Look over stove and see that nothing is missing, funnel included SEE THIS PAGE.

****DO NOT LEAN DIRECTLY OVER STOVE
(Emits large preheater flame from part STV-226)*******

***LEAVE FRAME ON STOVE, DURING LIGHTING PROCESS)**** ALWAYS REMEMBER -- SAFETY FIRST!!!!  --  LIGHT IT OUTDOORS

FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH ANY STOVE AND/OR LAMP BEFORE OPERATING.

!! WASH OUT TANK (use water or Fuel) BEFORE USING !!

OPERATING DIRECTIONS:  Optical and mechanical check:

(CHECK FOR LEAKS FIRST!!!  Fill stove & add pressure to detect any leaks) Also see this page

(1) Fill the stove with KEROSENE, or the fuel you like to use... DO NOT OVERFILL. It should burn for 4 - 6 hours. Remove Fuel Cap/with gauge. STV-149. Tighten the filler(STV-149 see photo 9 below) and bleeder cap(# 13) (the rough feeling, round things), by turning clockwise. (To the right - part STV-149... same as lantern part#149). See photo below 1. Make sure you put frame back on stove before using:  DO NOT DO THIS WITH STOVE WORKING.

(2) MAKE SURE KNOB IS IN THE OFF position ( see part STV-40 in photo)..., turn clockwise (stove should be in the off position from the factory.)   Look into the hole on the mixing tube to see if needle(#68) is sticking out of the # 50. See photos 1A and 1B below.

(3) Holding the tank STV-118, (shiny thing), pump to the red mark.( Part # 6 )

See photo 2 below. To see red mark  go to photo 9 below.

(4) Apply Flame (match or cigarette lighter) next to big hole in part # 220 or under #220(next to the 2 holes)open part # 223 (see photos 3,3A,& 4) and then open preheater all the way.

***BE CAREFUL!!!   PREHEATER WILL THROW OUT LARGE

FLAME!!***          See above photo 4

preheating

(5) Allow stove to PREHEAT (using oil-based fuels) for approx. 60 seconds - 1-1/2 minutes. (Preheating time is determined by atmospheric/altitude conditions, and Fuel gas type fuels about 50 seconds or less.!!WARNING!! If insufficient preheating time will cause raw fuel to come out of -(# 50) and make large flame.. When using diesel oil it may take 2 ½ min. to pre-heat, using Biodiesel can take 3 ½ min. to pre-heat. Photo below 5, also insufficient preheating time (when you turn the stove on)) can cause a buildup of fuel in the mixing chamber (located below the screw that holds the burner assembly in place), and may look like a leak.

Photo 5 pump STV-118

YOU MAY NEED TO ADD PRESSURE, during preheating time!!) see above photo 5.

(6)  AFTER 60 seconds....(preheating).....TURN ON/OFF(STV-40) KNOB COUNTER-CLOCKWISE (slowly), and LISTEN FOR STOVE TO START OPERATING.  You MAY or MAY NOT SEE A FLAME there will be a flame from preheater look for one on the burner ( the thing with holes in it ).

When stove is started, TURN OFF THE PREHEATER (223-flip it back into position). See photo below 5 & 6

(7)  PRESSURIZE STOVE TO DESIRED PRESSURE (Part # 6). (Stove will build it's pressure to about 1 & 1/2 bars).  It will hold pressure, so it is not necessary to pump stove on continuous basis.  ADJUST STOVE TO DESIRED FLAME OUTPUT ( use part STV-40 ). See photos below 7,8 & 9.

* Remember to always use battery operated smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors in the home.  It is prudent to protect yourself from any potential hazards of using ANY fuel burning appliance in your home. Do not use stoves inside home.

Upkeep of lanterns and stoves:

1.Do not store fuel in lantern or stove for long periods of time.

2. When using " Bio" fuels clean out tank and jets by adding some fuel cleaner (like carburetor cleaner) with your fuel in the lantern or stove. Use 4 caps full of a carburetor cleaner to 12 oz's. to a tank.

2a.You can also use a half of a tank of Coleman-type or similar type of fuel in the lantern or stove tank. Do this in the above in 2.and 2a. after 10 tanks full of bio fuels or less.

3. All other fuels except Coleman type fuels - use carburetor cleaner in the fuel (4 caps to a tank full of fuel, every 10 fill ups or less).

4. Tighten up the # 50 always check this part, when replacing a mantle, make sure the part # 33 has not dropped down close to the # 50. Raise # 33 high as you can for optimum performance. Most problems with the lantern will be caused by these two (2)....items # 50 and # 33.

5. Preheater Direction above photo: Stove....Make sure you preheat the area as shown in our stove instruction page on this site, and preheat long enough. (preheat time approx: 50 sec. to 90 sec.)
